Ingredients:

  • 100g of elbow macaroni
  • 200ml of milk
  • 100g of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 20g of butter
  • 10g of all-purpose flour
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Pot
  • Colander
  • Baking dish
  • Stirring spoon
  • Oven
  • Whisk

Instructions:

  • Boil a pot of water and add a pinch of salt. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente, then drain using a colander.
  • In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the flour and whisk continuously for about 1 minute to form a roux.
  • Gradually add the milk to the roux while whisking to keep the mixture smooth until it thickens.
  • Remove the pot from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until fully melted and incorporated.
  • Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix well until the pasta is fully coated.
  • Pour the mac and cheese mixture into a baking dish and sprinkle a little extra cheese on top if desired.
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake the mac and cheese for about 20-25 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbling.
