Ingredients:

  • 100g of elbow macaroni
  • 200ml of milk
  • 100g of cheddar cheese
  • 50g of mozzarella cheese
  • 30g of butter
  • 30g of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 30g of breadcrumbs

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • large pot
  • strainer
  • baking dish
  • mixing spoon
  • whisk

Instructions:

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add a pinch of salt. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour to create a roux and cook for about 1 minute until bubbly.
  • Gradually add the milk, whisking constantly to avoid lumps. Continue to cook until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
  • Lower the heat and add the cheddar cheese and mozzarella, stirring until melted and smooth. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce, stirring well to coat all the pasta evenly.
  • Transfer the mixture to a baking dish. Sprinkle breadcrumbs evenly over the top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
